the memory jar

our memory jar is one of my favorite traditions that michael and i have started as a family. of course i got the idea from pinterest!

the idea is, when something good, memorable, or exciting happens, you write it down on a small piece of paper. you fold it up and put it in your memory jar. on january 1st of the new year, you open the jar and read all of your good memories from the previous year. it's such a fun way to remember great things that happened in your life, no matter how small.

the one thing we didn't do well is opening our jar on time. i left on january 3rd for a little over a week  for a business trip to taiwan and japan, so opening the jar wasn't very high on our to-do list. oh well.

we finally opened up our 2012 jar last night and it was so funny to see what we wrote! i was really surprised to see how many michael wrote without me knowing.

i really wanted to save our memories, so I decided to put them in the cover pages of our current photo album. i'm hoping to do this every year so we not only have pictures as memories, but also our memory jar notes!

here's our photo album with 2 of the notes pages:

my favorite combination of notes....we got married! and we figured out how to identify flea poop and learned how to kill the little suckers. :)

our 2013 memory jar!
